  Playa Lindamar (hotels beach)

This is the stretch of beach in front of the hotels located on a shell-shaped inflection on the coast.

You will find palapas (beach umbrellas made of palm leaves, see picture), lounge chairs and volleyball nets in front of most of the hotels.

Please note since few years (especially after the Michelle hurricane in Nov. 2001) beaches at Cayo Largo are changing from day-to-day. The west beaches are the widest and the most stable (Playa Paraiso, Punta mal Tiempo and Playa Sirena).

Usually the beach in front of the Sol Pelicano is large. The new tendency of getting strong winds *rough sea* is spread all around the Caribbean.

Since 2007, The nautical center club is located at Playa Sirena (for all hotels).

To know more about the status of the Cayo Largo beaches, please visit our bulletin board in the section: État des plages...ŕ jour... These informations are from people returning from Cayo Largo. You are all invited to share your thoughts by registering to the forum which only requires a valid email address.

Pelicans are back on the island (after hurricane Michelle in 2001)

In front of the hotels the sea is generally not too rough (green or yellow flag most of the days). When it is very windy the sea gets a little rough, then you can go to the west beaches (Playa Paraiso, Punta mal Tiempo or Playa Sirena) if you prefer a sea which is always very calm.

Do not venture into the sea during red flag day. Drowning have been reported from Cayo Largo.
