With its sub-tropical climate, Cayo Largo has an almost eternal summer! Temperatures usually average from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day. Being located off the south coast of Cuba in the Caribbean sea, the temperatures in Cayo Largo are generally a few degrees higher than most cities on the great island of Cuba.

There are two seasons, the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October. However Cayo Largo is rather arid, so even during the wet season the precipitations are relatively low. From our personal experience and other traveller’s comments, it rarely rains during the day. Showers are usually strong but quick and seem to occur mostly at night or early morning.

During the winter months, the evenings may sometimes be a bit cool, so it's better to bring long pants and a jacket, just in case! For those who don't like (or prefer!) high temperatures, please not that the summer months are very hot (30C+) and humid.

The planet is living a climatic change creating major hurricanes during the months of August to October. Visit our section Hurricanes to know more about the history of hurricanes which affected Cayo Largo since 2001.
