The beaches of Cayo Largo
Cayo Largo is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! The South coastline is a stretch of more than 20 km of gorgeous beaches. All have very fine and white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. You can sunbath in the nude in some beaches, see the naturism section of this site.
You can walk for hours toward East to Playa Blanca, Los Cocos and Tortuga or west to Playa Paraiso and Sirena. The most « crowed » beach is in front of the hotels Sol Cayo Largo & Sol Pelicano (Playa Lindamar) and at Playa Sirena where excursionists from the main island come regularly to spend the day.
Past the Sol Cayo Largo, going west, the beaches are almost deserted. It is the same for the beaches east of hotel Barceló Cayo Largo Beach Resort (Playa Blanca, Los Cocos and Tortuga). These are miles and miles of virgin and secluded beaches where you will find pelicans and other birds, iguanas, turtles, crabs, and sometimes 1 or 2 happy tourists! You have to be in good shape to walk to the east end. If you decide to go there, do not forget to be bring plenty of water, food, sunscreen lotion and a good hat especially during summer months!
