  Playa Sirena (west beaches)

Recently, we incorporated new Adobe flash videos into our website, click HERE to access the index page of our videos (FLV) of Cayo Largo. (Flash player required).

This very large beach has many palm trees and no hotels along its 2 km of fine white sand. It is on the western end of the island and protected from the wind and surf. The sea is usually very calm. There are regularly excursionists who come to Playa Sirena to spend a day, that is why this beach can be a bit more crowed and more commercial. You will find there a restaurant, a bar, a souvenir shop, lounge chair and umbrella rental, etc. Since 2007, Playa Sirena now has the nautical center of all the hotels at Cayo Largo (beach more stable and calm water than Playa Lindamar).

Since hurricane Michelle in November 2001 the scuba diving center at Playa Sirena has been relocated at the marina (village).

Please note that meals and drinks at Playa Sirena are not part of the all-inclusive package but the prices are affordable.

The only beach of Cayo Largo where you can find palm trees!

To go to Playa Sirena...

  • By the beach (by foot):
    2½ hrs from Barceló hotel.
1½ hrs from Sol Cayo Largo.
    ½ hr from Playa Paraiso.
    (Depending on your speed)
  • Shuttle bus:
The same shuttle as for Playa Paraiso. The transfer takes about 15-20 minutes from the hotels. Visit the section [Transport] of our website to know more about transportation in Cayo Largo.
  • Taxi: Do not forget to tell the driver your return hour and the total price (round trip) BEFORE you enter the taxi.
  • Scooter: There is a sandy road accessible from the main road near the entrance of the Sol Pelicano hotel. Always be Careful in scooter because the road is sometimes slippery. Many persons got injured in scooter at Cayo Largo.
  • Bicycle: It is not recommended to go there by bicycle for two reasons: the sandy trail and the poor condition of the bicycle.
